Market closes with a rise, Sensex at 53,054.76 and Nifty at 15,879.65

Today’s market closed with a hike of 193.58 points. The 30-share BSE index rises to 0.37 per cent to close at fresh peak of 53,054.76; while the broader NSE Nifty settled 61 points or 0.39 per cent higher at record of 15,879.65.

Top gainers of Today, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, Nestle India and Sun Pharma with their shares rising as much as 4.91 per cent.

On the NSE platform, sub-indices Nifty Metal, Realty and Financial Services gained up to 2.2 per cent.

Indian rupee declines 7 paise to close at 74.62 against US dollar
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 74.60 per dollar. It hovered in a range of 74.59 to 74.79 during the day before ending at 74.62 against the greenback. On Tuesday, the rupee had settled at 74.55 against the US dollar.
