Nepali Congress prez Sher Bahadur Deuba became Nepal’s PM for 5th time

Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of Nepali Congress party, became Prime Minister of Nepal of for the fifth time. The 74-year-old Deuba is returning to power as the Prime Minister.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed him in accordance with Article 76(5) of the Constitution.

Sher Bahadur Deuba is required to seek a vote of confidence from the House within 30 days of his appointment as the Prime Minister, as per the constitutional provisions.

The news came after the country’s Supreme Court reinstated the House of Representatives on Monday and ordered Deuba to be appointed as the PM within the next two days, replacing incumbent K P Sharma Oli.
