Telangana is all set to have a new DGP on January 1, 2023 as the incumbent police chief of the state Mudireddy Mahender Reddy is retiring on December 31, 2022. In view of Assembly elections in 2023 and Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the appointment becomes very important.
Those in the race included Umesh Sharraf (IPS: 1989: TG), Anjani Kumar (IPS: 1990: TG), Ravi Gupta (IPS: 1990: TG) and C V Anand (IPS: 1991: TG). There is a tough competition between Anjani and Anand for being appointed as the next DGP of the state. However, Anjani has a definite edge over others as he was once officiated the DGP charge when Reddy was unwell. So the power corridor is abuzz that he is ahead in the race and also for his proximity with the CM.
